2. I expect a smile but get a scrunched up nose instead.

3. The friendly security guard at my apartment who left his job not too long ago (causing much personal distress) reappears as an attendant at the hotel next door. "Better pay and better benefits" he says. When we recognise him in the lobby we smile and stop to chat.
